Eden Prairie, MN (December 23, 2013) To close out the 32-year-old stadium for the last time, the Minnesota Vikings have planned a final memorable weekend for fans at Mall of America Field.

The festivities will begin on Saturday, December 28, with a “Last Season, Last Call” event from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Mall of America Field. Exclusive to Season Ticket Owners and not open to the public, the event will allow fans one final chance to take commemorative photos on the field, near the Vikings ship or in the team’s locker room, hear stories from former Vikings greats and watch highlights from some of the most memorable games played inside the stadium. Note: the 6,000-person limit for this event has already been reached.

On Sunday, every fan who enters the stadium will receive a commemorative pennant celebrating the final season (image attached). Both The Playbook, placed on every seat throughout the building, as well as the game program, will also acknowledge the final game at Mall of America Field. During halftime, the team will unveil the remaining two “Top 10 Moments at Mall of America Field,” and following the game, a short post-game ceremony featuring a highlight video and remarks from several Vikings legends will officially close the building. Former Vikings Matt Birk and Robert Smith, along with Adrian Peterson and Hall of Fame Head Coach Bud Grant are expected to address the crowd.

“Closing this stadium and embarking on building the future home of Vikings football is a celebration for the team and for our fans,” said Vikings Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Chief Marketing Officer Steve LaCroix. “We want to make this final game memorable for those Vikings fans who have supported the team throughout the building’s history.”

For Sunday’s game, the team and the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority will implement a “zero tolerance policy” that prohibits fans from removing any stadium property. Extra security, including twice as many Minneapolis police officers that serve a typical home game, will be on hand to ensure fans can celebrate in a safe and respectful environment.

Below you will find the cover images for this Sunday's Playbook and GameDay Program. The GameDay program will have a double-cover, with the "outer layer" being a replica from the cover that was used during the first ever game at Mall of America Field which was from September 12, 1982 when the Vikings hosted Tampa Bay, while the "inner layer" will be the final image shown below of inside Mall of America Field.
