Vikings Rule Ponder, Three Others For Sunday

Posted Sep 27, 2013

Vikings

Head Coach Leslie Frazier announced on Friday that the team has ruled four players out, including starting QB Christian Ponder, for Sunday’s game in London vs. the Steelers

Earlier in the week it was revealed that Ponder suffered a rib injury in last Sunday’s loss to the Browns.  On Friday, Frazier and the staff decided before practice that Matt Cassel would get the nod as the team’s starting quarterback on Sunday.  Both Frazier and Ponder on Friday confirmed the specific nature of the injury: a broken rib.

Also ruled out of the Vikings are CB Chris Cook (groin), S Jamarca Sanford (hamstring), and TE Rhett Ellison (knee).

The rest of the players on the Vikings’ injury report all practice in full on Friday and are probable for Sunday’s game.  They are RB Matt Asiata (hamstring), CB A.J. Jefferson (ankle), DT Kevin Williams (knee), LB Erin Henderson (heel), and LS Cullen Loeffler (neck).

For the Steelers, DE Brett Keisel, CB Cortez Allen, RB Le’Veon Bell, DT Steve McLendon, and TE Heath Miller are all probable for Sunday.
