Vikings Rule Out Freeman, Three Others Out For Sunday

Posted Oct 25, 2013

As expected, the Vikings officially ruled QB Josh Freeman (concussion) out of Sunday night’s game vs. the Packers, meaning Christian Ponder will make the start at quarterback with Matt Cassel backing him up.

Also ruled out are RB Matt Asiata (shoulder), TE Rhett Ellison (ankle), and WR Rodney Smith (hip).

Both S Jamarca Sanford (ankle) and DT Fred Evans (knee) suffered injuries during practice this week.  Sanford was limited on Friday while Evans did not participate.  Both are questionable for Sunday.

All other players on the injury report for the Vikings are probable: RB Adrian Peterson (hamstring), LB Chad Greenway (wrist) CB A.J. Jefferson (ankle), T Matt Kalil (back), K Blair Walsh (left hamstring), DT Kevin Williams (knee), DE Jared Allen (ankle), and DT Sharrif Floyd (back).

For the Packers, TE Jermichael Finley (neck) and TE Ryan Taylor (knee) are out.  WR James Jones (knee) is doubtful.  LB Brad Jones (hamstring) and LB Nick Perry (foot) are questionable, while CB Jarrett Bush (hamstring), CB Casey Hayward (hamstring), S Jerron McMillian (not injury related) and RB James Starks (knee) are probable.
