Vikings Rule Five Players Out For Sunday’s Game vs. Cowboys

Posted Nov 1, 2013

A short-handed secondary isn’t the best recipe for success when going against the high-powered Dallas passing attack, but that’s what the Vikings will be dealing with some Sunday at AT&T Stadium. During his post-practice press conference on Friday, Head Coach Leslie Frazier ruled five players out in advance of Sunday’s game vs. the Cowboys, including a pair of starters in the secondary: Chris Cook and Jamarca Sanford.

Cook (hip) and Sanford (groin) both suffered injuries during last Sunday’s loss to the Packers.  Neither was able to practice this week and were ruled out on Friday.

Along with Cook and Sanford, Matt Asiata (shoulder), Rhett Ellison (ankle) and DT Fred Evans (knee) won’t be available for the Vikings come Sunday.

All other players listed on the injury report for the Vikings are probable for Sunday: Greg Jennings (knee), Chad Greenway (wrist), A.J. Jefferson (ankle) Rodney Smith (hip), Blair Walsh (left hamstring), Kevin Williams (knee), and Phil Loadholt (illness).

Adrian Peterson was held out of practice on Friday due to a coach’s decision but he’ll be good to go come Sunday.

For the Cowboys, WR Miles Austin (hamstring) and DE DeMarcus Ware (thigh) are both listed as doubtful for Sunday's game. Ruled out are CB Morris Claiborne, G Brian Waters, S J.J. Wilcox and LB DeVonte Holloman. S Danny McCray (hip) is questionable but said on Friday he expects to play.

All other Cowboys listed are probable: DE George Selvie (shoulder), S Barry Church (hamstring), WR Dwayne Harris (hip), RB DeMarco Murray (knee), DT Jason Hatcher (neck), and RB Lance Dunbar (hamstring).
