Vikings Host Nearly 1,200 Fans To Raise Money For Underserved Children

Posted Nov 13, 2013

Football fans and food connoisseurs came together on Monday night to help fight hunger in Minnesota at the 21st Annual Taste of the Vikings event inside Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America.

The event, which was held at Mall of America for the fourth consecutive year and attended by nearly 1,200 people, benefits the Vikings Children’s Fund Summer Lunch Program through Second Harvest Heartland. This initiative supports the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program, which provides more than 2.2 million meals to kids at 600 sites (schools, parks, community centers) throughout Minnesota during the summer months. Money raised on Monday evening will help Second Harvest Heartland promote and expand participation in the program

Taste of the Vikings is a strolling food and wine event that features 20 of the Twin Cities finest dining establishments all serving up their best dishes to impress patrons and help raise awareness for the fight to end hunger. Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier and the entire Vikings team took part in the event, serving up food and interacting with those in attendance by posing for photographs and signing autographs.

The first Taste of the NFL event was held in Minnesota in 1992 and has since grown to become a highlight of Super Bowl Weekend, held each year in the Big Game’s host city.
