Vikings, Cassel Agree To Terms On New Contract

The Minnesota Vikings and QB Matt Cassel have agreed to terms on a new contract.

Cassel, who originally signed with the Vikings as a free agent during the 2013 offseason, appeared in 9 games, including all 5 Vikings wins, while starting 6 last season. The veteran QB totaled 1,807 passing yards, 11 TDs, 9 INTs for a 81.6 QB rating in his lone season for the Vikings. He connected on the Vikings 4 longest pass plays of the season (79t, 70t, 57t & 51). The USC product started and threw for 382 yards, the most by a Viking in 2010, 2 TDs and 1 INT in the 48-30 upset victory over the playoff-bound Philadelphia Eagles (12/15). The 48 points against Philadelphia marked the highest offensive output in Metrodome history. Cassel was awarded the FedEx Air Player of the Week for his performance against the Eagles.
