Vikings Announce 2011 Schedule

A pair of primetime matchups against two of the Vikings' NFC North rivals and the season-opener in San Diego against the Chargers highlights the club's 16-game schedule for the 2011-12 season, which was released today.

Below you will find the date, location opponent, and the Vikings all-time record against said opponent for each game of the 2011 regular season:

9/11 at San Diego 5-5-0 
1984 was the last time the Vikings opened against the Chargers. They have never opened in San Diego and last played there in 2003. In the 2007 meeting in Minneapolis, Adrian Peterson set a NFL single-game record with 297 rushing yards.
9/18 Tampa Bay 31-20-0 
Tampa Bay played in Minnesota every year from 1977-2001 as a member of the NFC Central, but this year they’ll play in Minnesota for just the second time since 2005. The Vikings are 18-7 against Tampa Bay at Mall of America Field.

9/25 Detroit 66-31-2 
The Vikings haven’t lost to the Lions in Minneapolis since 1997 and hold a 36-12-1 record at home.
10/2 at Kansas City 4-6-0 
The last Vikings victory in Kansas City came back in 1974 by a Bud Grant led squad.

10/9 Arizona 13-10-0 
Vikings have battled Arizona in 5 of the last 6 seasons and have won 6 consecutive home contests.

10/16 at Chicago 52-46-2 
The NFC North will be on a national stage as the Vikings and Bears face off on Sunday Night Football on NBC. Minnesota holds a 4-3 lead in Sunday night primetime contests against the Monsters of the Midway.

10/23 Green Bay 49-51-1
For the fourth straight season the Vikings will face the defending Super Bowl champions. Minnesota has won 2 out of the last 3 games played at Mall of America Field against the green and gold.

10/30 at Carolina 5-4-0 
Vikings are looking for their first-ever win at Carolina. Vikings are set to face the #1 overall pick from the 2011 NFL Draft. Vikings have won 2 of the last 3 games against the Panthers dating back to 2006.
11/14 at Green Bay 49-51-1 
This marks the Vikings only appearance on Monday Night Football during the 2011 season. It will be the eighth MNF matchup between these two storied franchises; Minnesota holds a 4-3 advantage in Monday night contests.

11/20 Oakland 4-9-0 
The Vikings are 3-3 all-time in home games against the Raiders with their last victory coming in 2007.

11/27 at Atlanta 16-10-0

New Orleans faces a daunting task when entering Mall of America Field. The Vikings are 12-2 all-time against the Saints in Minnesota.

Head Coach Leslie Frazier returns to the site of his first-ever victory as a head coach. The Vikings have won two straight road games at FedEx Field.

1/1/12 Chicago 52-46-2
