Posted Sep 17, 2013

We cruise around the interweb to see where various sites and experts have the Vikings slotted in their weekly power rankings...

ESPN

23. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week: 21st) - Stay in your lane, AP. Adrian Peterson has 200 yards on 40 rushes inside the tackles this season and four rushes for minus-7 yards outside the tackles.

20. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week: 23rd) - Christian Ponder isn't good. But I laugh when anyone brings up the name Matt Cassel ... if that's your answer, you're in way more trouble than any of us could have possibly realized.

26. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week: 20th) - Tough to stomach an 0-2 start after a 10-win campaign. Christian Ponder takes center stage again; after a terrible season-opener versus the Detroit Lions, Ponder got the wrong team on the board by giving up a pick-six against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. If not for their defense and special teams, the Vikings wouldn't have even been in the game. Speaking of special teams, in case you missed it, first-round pick Cordarrelle Patterson took one to the house. And Vikings safety Harrison Smith picked Jay Cutler on a sweet read. Let's not forget how much young talent is on this football team.

25. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week: 19th) - So you want to bench Christian Ponder in favor of Matt Cassel? Just a reminder, Matt Cassel had more lost fumbles (7) than he did touchdowns last season (6). And that's not even taking into consideration his 12 interceptions.

24. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week: 22nd)

24. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week: 23rd) - They have two tough losses to open the season, and the loss to the Bears was especially tough. They aren't getting enough out of their passing game.

USA Today

25. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week: 21st) - Browns, who are allowing 2.0 yards per rush, might not be the breather the Vikings badly need.
