Today the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission (MSFC), the public body that owns and operates the Metrodome, announced its decision to replace, rather than repair, the Metrodome’s collapsed roof. Within the announcement, the MSFC also set a timeline that allows the stadium to be ready for use by August 1, 2011. This is great news for you, a Minnesota Vikings fan, and the team because it means that Mall of America Field will be available as the Vikings home for the 2011 NFL season. Knowing this was a major concern of fans, we are pleased that the MSFC’s decision removes the uncertainty and ensures continuity for you, as well as provides a safe environment for all users of the publicly-owned facility.
We now turn our full attention toward doing everything possible to bring a World Championship home to Minnesota and our very passionate fans. We assure you we will continue to provide updates as the MSFC’s plan moves forward. If you have any questions regarding the decision, please contact our ticket office at 612-33-VIKES.
Thank you for your continued commitment and support of the Minnesota Vikings.
