Greenway Designated as Franchise Player

Vikings LB Chad Greenway has been designated as the club’s franchise player for 2011. The 6th-year pro has led the team in tackles for 3 straight seasons and was recognized by his teammates as the 2010 Vikings Defensive MVP. In 2010, Greenway notched 149 tackles, just shy of his career-high 150 stops in 2008.

The durable Greenway has not missed a game from 2007-10 as the full-time starter and has a nose for the ball, posting 6.5 career sacks, 7 fumble recoveries and 5 INTs. After missing his rookie season in 2006 with a preseason knee injury, Greenway has averaged 139 tackles per season and has earned the NFC Defensive Player of the Week once.

One of the most active players in community outreach through his Lead The Way Foundation, Greenway has annually hosted the Greenway Gridiron Gallop 5k race and is active with Make-A-Wish. In 2008 he donated $100,000 to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
