Free Agency Preview: Offensive Line

Posted Mar 10, 2014

Over the next several days leading up to the launch of the 2014 League Year on Tuesday, March 11, will unveil its 2014 Free Agency Preview. has ranked the top 100 free agents in this year’s class, and our preview will use those rankings to set the stage. As always, we encourage readers to use the space below the story to submit their thoughts.

Whatever your needs are for offensive linemen – franchise left tackle, starting interior linemen or depth – this free agent class has it. The Vikings have a starting guard (Charlie Johnson) and two depth players (C Joe Berger, OT J’Marcus Webb) scheduled to hit the market, so expect several moves over the next week or so.

Vikings’s Top 10 Free Agent OL (overall ranking)

1. LT Eugene Monroe (2, pictured)
2. C Alex Mack (4)
The Browns have placed the transition tag on Mack, so he’s unlikely to be going anywhere.

3. LT Jared Veldheer (6)
4. OT Brandon Albert (7)
Albert can play on both the left and right sides, which makes him appealing to teams with a left-handed quarterback or to teams who don’t know whom their starter will be at this point.

5. G/T Rodger Saffold (42)
Of linemen with “swing” ability, Saffold tops the list.

6. OT Anthony Collins (44)
7. OT Michael Oher (60)
8. G Jon Asamoha (61)
Asamoha’s been a solid starter for Kansas City, but did lose his job last year to Geoff Schwartz. He should have a starting job back this year.

9. OT Zach Strief (62)
10. G Zane Beadles (68)

Other notables: G Travelle Wharton (72), G Geoff Schwartz (80), C Brian De La Puente (89), C Evan Dietrich-Smith (99), OT Austin Howard
