Adrian Peterson and Mall of America To Donate 1,812 Toys To Salvation Army

Posted Dec 19, 2012

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson and Mall of America® are partnering to donate 1,812 toys to the Salvation Army during this holiday season. The number of toys, which matches Peterson’s current rushing yardage, will increase at the completion of the regular season to reflect his final total rushing yardage.

The donation comes at a perfect time, as The Salvation Army put out an all-call to the community this week for its urgent need for toys as thousands of families are scheduled to come to Salvation Army toy shops now through Saturday.

"Making sure we have the toys for families when they come to shop is critical," said Major Jeff Strickler, Twin Cities Salvation Army Commander. "And once again Adrian Peterson is proving he is right where he should be - connecting for a score - and this time it’s with children in need."

“With the holidays approaching, many of us recognize how fortunate we are and how many families are hurting,” said Peterson. “This was a perfect opportunity to join forces with Mall of America and brighten so many children’s lives.”

“Adrian shines with his amazing on-field performance, but it is his work in the community that makes him a star,” remarked Maureen Bausch, Executive Vice President, Mall of America. “We are so proud to partner with Adrian Peterson to bring 1,812 toys – and additional toys to match his yardage at season’s end – to those in need this holiday season. That’s what the holidays are all about.”

Peterson will be available to the local media in the Vikings locker room tomorrow following the morning walk-through.
