Game Summary

After losing last week for the first time in 5 weeks, the Minnesota Vikings (10-2) will return home to take on the Cincinnati Bengals (9-3) this Sunday, December 13. Kickoff at Mall of America Field is set for noon.

This will be just the 11th meeting between the 2 teams with both teams having 5 wins in the previous 10 matchups. The last time the Vikings played the Bengals was in 2005, when Minnesota lost 37-8 in Cincinnati. Next week the Vikings will go back on the road for the first of 2 consecutive nationally televised games, taking on the Carolina Panthers on NBC Sunday Night Football.

- TE Visanthe Shiancoe eclipsed the team record for the most receiving TDs in a single season by a Vikings TE when he caught his 9th of the season last week at Arizona. Shiancoe now has 16 receiving TDs in the last 2 seasons, the 3rd-most of any player in the NFL.

- QB Brett Favre crossed the 3,000-yard passing mark last week, giving him his 18th consecutive season and his 18th overall season with at least 3,000 yards passing, both NFL records.

- Favre’s streak of passing attempts without an INT ended at 159 last week, which ranks as the 3rd-best in Vikings history. He has just 5 INTs on the season, the least among QBs with 250 passing attempts.

Vikings Big Days vs. Bengals

- DE Jared Allen had 2.5 sacks on Bengals QB Carson Palmer while a member of the Kansas City Chiefs on 10/14/07.

- QB Brett Favre threw for 339 yards on 31-of-43 (72.1%) passing, 3 TDs, and a passer rating o 108.6 on 12/3/95 vs. the Bengals as a member of the Green Bay Packers. It was part of month where Favre threw for 1,233 yards and 10 TDs on directing Green Bay to three victories and earning NFC Offensive Player of the Month.

- Favre came off the bench on 9/20/92 to relieve Don Majkowski for the Packers in a game against Cincinnati at Lambeau Field. Favre led a pair of TD drives in the final 8:00 of the game to claim a 24-23 win, throwing his first career NFL TD to Sterling Sharpe and hooking up with Kitrick Taylor on a 35-yard TD with :13 remaining for the gamewinning score.

- P Chris Kluwe, then a rookie, booted 3 punts for an average of 46.7 yards and a net of 41.7, including a long of 52 and 2 inside the Bengals 20-yard line the last time the two teams met on 9/18/05.

- LB Ben Leber notched a sack of QB Gus Frerotte at Cincinnati on 9/8/02.

- CB Benny Sapp had 5 tackles, 1 pass breakup and 1 of only 3 sacks in his career vs. Cincinnati while playing for Kansas City on 1/1/06.

- RB Chester Taylor while playing for Baltimore rushed for 139 yards and 1 TD on 23 carries, including a 47-yard scamper against the Bengals on 12/5/04. Taylor also caught 3 balls for 25 yards on the day.
