MVC Cheerleader Auditions

Information on the audition process for the 2010-11 Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders will be posted at the end of the 2009 Vikings season.  Below is information from the 2009 tryout process…

Tryout Workshop - Saturday, March 21 (optional)

Open Audition - Saturday, April 4

Semi-Finals – Sunday, April 19

Final Audition - Tuesday, April 21

General Details and Information

Be a part of the “Glamour of the North” in 2009!

Audition Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age as of June 2009
  • Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D. by June 2009
  • If selected, must reside or be willing to commute to the Minneapolis metro area for rehearsals, appearances, games, etc.
  • Must be able to attend ALL rehearsals, games and other related activities (Practices are on Tues., Thurs. & Sun.)
  • Must be able to show proof of health insurance, recent physical, age and diploma, as needed
  • Provide a completed and signed application and release/waiver
  • Must be a full-time college student, career woman or mother/homemaker
  • If selected to the team, a one year contract and commitment are required
  • $25 Application Fee made payable to the Minnesota Vikings

Audition Dates And Overview

Tryout Workshop (Optional)

Location: Winter Park – 9520 Viking Dr. Eden Prairie, MN 55344
Date: Saturday, March 21, 2009
Cost: $45 per session or $75 for both.
Session I: Registration at 9 a.m. – ends at approximately 3 p.m.
Session II: Registration at 4:30 p.m. – ends at approximately 9 p.m.

NOTE: **There are no pre-registrations.  Application paperwork will be handed out at the door when you enter the facility.

  • Bring your application fee (cash or check made payable to Minnesota Vikings), a notebook, pen, water bottle and snack.  Wear a warm up or comfortable dance clothes and either dance or tennis shoes.
  • You will be required to leave the facility following Session I and will be readmitted for Session II. There are many restaurants in the surrounding area, if needed.
  • Session I will cover audition preparation guidance in the areas of hair styling, what to wear, make-up application, resume preparation, photo selection, interviewing skills, public speaking, football and team knowledge, modeling, and more!
  • Session II will cover audition preparation guidance in the areas of increasing flexibility, pom motion placement, hitting the crowd, kick-line, technique of skills, a sampling of what the audition choreography style will resemble and more!
  • If you want to know what to expect at auditions, how to prepare and desire to learn TONS of helpful hints, then you should attend this workshop! It will be fun and will prepare you for what to expect! The workshop would be helpful for those looking to audition for another team (college, pro, etc.) as well or for those that would like to have fun just seeing what it would be like to be on the team for a day.

Open Auditions

Location: Winter Park – 9520 Viking Dr. Eden Prairie, MN 55344
Date: Saturday, April 4, 2009
Time: Call time is 9 am. End time will depend on the number of applicants. Plan a late end time and a long day!

  • Here is your chance to be considered for the team! GO FOR IT!
  • Please review all the questions on the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section of this site for detailed information about tryouts. Auditions are closed to the public! Arrive dressed in form-fitting clothing and prepared to dance.

Interviews

Lottery sign up for times will take place once those that have been selected to Training Camp are announced.    Interviews will be held at varying hours on Sunday and Monday, April 5 and 6, 2009.  A quiz on team and football knowledge will be administered following your interview.

Training Camp

Where: Winter Park – 9520 Viking Dr. Eden Prairie, MN 55344

Dates: April 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, and 20 (April 20th will be our Dress Rehearsal for the MOA Final Audition Show)
Time: 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.

  • We will train, condition and learn material for the Mall of America show during this time
  • You will also participate in the NFL Draft Party event on April 26th
  • Training Camp is closed to the public. You must have qualified for Training Camp at Open Auditions

Semi-Final Pageant

Where:  Location TBD
Date:  Sunday, April 19, 2009
Time:  Rehearsal call time 3 PM; Show start time 6 PM

  • Participants will compete in on stage interviews
  • A classic swimsuit pageant competition round is hosted during this phase of competition
  • This round of competition will be open to the public based on ticket availability
  • The top 8 scores in the swimsuit category will be named as our finalists for the cover model competition for our team calendar for 2009

Final Auditions

Where: Mall of America, Bloomington, MN – Rotunda / 1st floor, East Side
Date: Tuesday, April 21, 2009
Time: Show start time will be 6:30 PM.

  • This is open to the public. There is limited seating.
  • Final team selection will be announced online and by phone Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
  • NOTE:  You must have been selected through Open Auditions and all other rounds of competition to be judged at the Final Auditions. We will not accept walk up applicants on this day.

  • Perform at all home games for the 2008 NFC Championship team - the Minnesota Vikings
  • Travel on military tours, for appearances and our Show Tour to entertain US troops
  • Be a role model for hundreds of Junior MVC Cheerleaders and All Stars
  • Have a presence and contribute to our community as an ambassador
  • Be featured in a professional calendar, photo shoot(s) and NFL production
  • Make 30+ amazing and life-long friends while on the team
  • And so much more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
