Monnens begins his 7th season in the Vikings scouting department. He is responsible for scouting players in the NFL, advance scouting of Vikings opponents, assisting with the pro scouting database and scouting players in both the CFL and AFL.Monnens is in his 4th season as a pro scout after spending 3 seasons as a pro personnel assistant. He originally joined the Vikings as an intern in 1998 and spent 3 seasons in public relations before joining the scouting department in 2002.Monnens played WR at St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN (1995-97) under legendary coach John Gagliardi, the all-time winningest coach in college football history. During his tenure at St. John’s, the Johnnies won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in ’95 and ’96, advanced to the NCAA playoffs, and posted a (25-6-1) record.A Minnesota native, Monnens (12/4/75) grew up in Richmond and was a two-time all conference running back at Rocori High School. Monnens earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. John’s in 1998. He and his wife, Krissy, reside in Excelsior.
