Professional Biography

Entering his 4th season with the Vikings but his 11th associated with the National Football League, Les Pico serves the Vikings as Executive Director of Player Development/Legal.

Pico is responsible for heading the Vikings efforts in player-related programs, including continuing education, family assistance and career internships. Other areas of Pico’s expertise will include joining players at the annual Rookie Symposium, serving as a team liaison between the NCAA and the team and legal issues that arise concerning players, coaches and staff. In 2006 Pico helped implement a Vikings “mini-symposium” to assist rookies in their transition to life in the NFL and he lends his expertise to the team during the NFL Combine and during the free agency period.

Pico joins the Vikings after four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs where he worked as Player Development Coordinator/Legal. The Chiefs have a reputation league-wide for their dedication to player programs and working to develop the off-the-field aspects of players lives.

Pico’s background professionally with athletics extends to his tenure with NFL Security from 1998-2000 and with the NCAA from 1991-98 working as an enforcement representative where he investigated possible infractions at member institutions.

A native of Mesa, AZ, Pico graduated from Westwood High before attending Scottsdale Community College where he was a decorated QB and engineered the nationally- ranked SCC offense while earning team MVP honors. Following his two seasons at SCC, Pico went on a twoyear LDS mission in the Midwest and then became involved in private business. He returned to complete his bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University in criminal justice. Pico was a Cum Laude graduate with a bachelor’s in criminal justice from ASU in 1987 and went on to law school at Washburn University in Kansas. During law school Pico worked as an assistant coach with the football team and was Vice President of the Hispanic American Law Student Association on campus before earning his Juris Doctorate in 1991.

Pico and his wife, Rita, have four children.
