The newest member of the Vikings’ medical staff is Team Physician Dr. Joel Boyd, whose experience in the sports field has taken him around the world.
Boyd serves as a Physician at TRIA Orthopedic Center in Bloomington and joins the Vikings for the 2007 season along with working in a similar role with the NHL’s Minnesota Wild.
His experience with the United State Olympic Team took Boyd to the Nagano Games in 1998 while working with the men’s and women’s hockey teams. In past seasons Boyd has worked as a National Team Physician with USA Hockey in world championships in Switzerland, Sweden and Germany.
Boyd holds and undergraduate degree from Bucknell and graduated from Temple University Medical School. He completed his orthopedic training at the Cleveland Clinic
Foundation and fellowship training at the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Boyd and his wife, Cheryl, have 3 children, Kendall, Kyle and Kasey, and reside in Eden Prairie.
