Professional Biography

Jamaal Stephenson enters his 7th season with the Vikings in 2008. He is responsible for scouting the East Coast of the United States.

Stephenson joined the Vikings in 2002 after spending two years in the Houston Texans’ scouting department. In May of 2000, he was hired as College Administrator for the Texans. During his time in Houston, he was in charge of scouting areas of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, compiling statistics and biographical data on college players and maintaining several scouting databases for the team.

Prior to joining the Texans, Stephenson spent one year as a scouting assistant for the Washington Redskins. His duties included making recommendations on college prospects for the NFL Draft, compiling information for weekly opponent scouting reports and helping to maintain contractual and other miscellaneous information on NFL players. In the spring of 1998, Stephenson coached defensive backs as a graduate assistant at UMass.

Jamaal Akim Stephenson (1/29/76) is a native of Goldsboro, NC He was a four-year letterwinner at DB for Brown. Twice he earned All-Ivy League honors, and was also awarded the team’s "Unsung Hero" Award. He earned his bachelor’s degree in organizational behavior management from Brown in 1997, and his master’s degree in sport management from Massachusetts in 1999. In 2003, Stephenson was selected to Brown’s All-Decade Football Team for the 1990’s. He was honored as part the 125-year anniversary celebration of football at Brown University.

Stephenson and his wife, Emily, have a son, Noah, and a daughter, Gabrielle.
