Title: Director of Football Administration

Professional Biography

Director of Football Administration Dave Blando enters his eighth season with the Vikings organization in 2008 and brings experience at the franchise and League level to the Vikings. Since joining the Vikings in 2001, he has been able to improve the Vikings management of the salary cap and player contracts by implementing new technology and techniques.

Blando joined the Vikings after working as the Denver Broncos Director of Salary Cap from 1997- 2000, where he was fortunate to be a part of two Super Bowl championship teams. Denver was one of the few teams that were positioned to stay competitive from a salary cap perspective following their back-to-back Super Bowl titles.

Blando works closely with Vice President of Football Administration Rob Brzezinski in managing the Vikings salary cap and developing contract proposals and parameters.

He also individually negotiates a number of the Vikings player contracts. He spends a significant amount of his time working on administrative functions within the personnel department. Blando has extensive experience using relational databases which benefit both the Vikings salary cap and player personnel departments.

Prior to his stint with the Broncos, Blando served as a consultant to the Miami Dolphins and spent three years in the League Office (Management Council) and nine years as a financial analyst with the Boeing Company in Seattle. An additional benefit to working for the Vikings is that Blando was able to move closer to his hometown of Aberdeen, SD, where he was a graduate of Northern State University in 1984. He is single and resides in Edina.
