Professional Biography

Conrad Cardano is in his second decade with the Vikings college scouting department in 2008, joining the team in 1987 after a successful stint in collegiate coaching and working in scouting for Blesto. Cardano is a Regional Scout for the Vikings evaluating prospects throughout the Eastern seaboard and the Southeast.

Since joining the Vikings, Cardano has helped build a team that has made the playoffs 12 times, including NFC Central titles in ‘89, ‘92, ‘94, ‘98 and ‘00. The team has played in three NFC Championship Games during his tenure with the organization.

Prior to joining the Vikings, Cardano worked for three years (1984-86) for the Blesto Scouting Combine. From 1981-83 he coached at Eastern Kentucky, which won the Ohio Valley Conference title each of his three seasons there. The Colonels captured the NCAA Division I-AA championship in ‘82, when they went 13-0. Cardano joined Eastern Kentucky after two seasons (1979-80) overseeing wide receivers at Marshall. His first collegiate coaching job came as offensive coordinator at Catholic University from 1975-78. Cardano coached two years at the high school level at Tuscola High in Waynesville,NC and Dover- Sherborn High in Dover, MA.

Cardano played quarterback for the Hagarstown Bears of the Seaboard Pro League from 1972-73. As a collegiate player Cardano quarterbacked Western Carolina from 1967-70.

Born in Washington, DC, Cardano (8/18/48) attended Bladensburg (MD) High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education at Western Carolina. In 1982 Cardano received his master’s in education administration and supervision from Bowie State College in Maryland. His wife’s name is Gloria. Cardano has two sons — Christopher and Anthony.
