A Little Housekeeping

8/20/2008 7:45:00 AM  |  By Mike Wobschall

It’s going to be a busy next couple of days and weekend here on vikings.com, so it’s time to do some housekeeping, so to speak, and try to get things squared away as the Vikings continue preparations for Saturday’s game against the Steelers.

We need to start off by saying that we’ll have fewer updates today because the new vikings.com homepage is almost set to launch; it should happen either later this afternoon or by tomorrow morning at the latest. We can’t update the current site too much while the launch is going on, so we’re sorry for the lack of updates today but please be sure to come back and check out the new homepage later this afternoon. You will love it because it will be easier to navigate and it has a clean, modern look that is easy on the eye. The same can be said for the current homepage, but there will be plenty of improvements on the new homepage.

Anyway, I digress. Getting back to business…here are the transcriptions from yesterday’s press conference with Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress. He addressed a number of issues, including the health of players like Tarvaris Jackson, Bernard Berrian and Garrett Mills. Also, check out the Vikings-Steelers Game Information Center for all the information you need on the upcoming game, including the game preview.

With regard to preparing for the Steelers and dealing with injuries, this week has felt more like a game week than any of the other preseason weeks leading up to games. The next game is on Saturday of course, so the team is one day ahead, with today’s work simulating work the team would do on a normal Thursday.

Speaking of today’s work, the Vikings will hold a walk-through this morning and then practice this afternoon. Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and special teams coordinator Paul Ferraro will address the media following practice and players will also be made available to the media following practice. We’ll have those transcriptions posted when the new homepage is ready to launch.

Remember, the Vikings will distribute complimentary 24x36 inch posters of Adrian Peterson to all fans as they depart the Metrodome following the Vikings-Steelers preseason game on Saturday, August 23. The image, which was taken from an original painting by St. Paul native artist Robert Blehert, features Peterson breaking free for a touchdown.

That’s it for now…remember that you can email a question to the vikings.com Mailbag by typing your question in an email to mailbag@vikings.nfl.net. Also, be sure to check back to see the new vikings.com homepage later today.
