Game Summary

The Minnesota Vikings (8-8 in 2007) will open the 2008 preseason at home against the 2007 NFC West Champions Seattle Seahawks (10-6 in 2007) on Friday, August 8, at the Metrodome. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

This will be the 12th time the two teams have matched up in the preseason, but only the 4th time at the Metrodome. The Vikings have won five of the previous 11 matchups, including two of the three at home. The last time the Vikings played Seattle at the Metrodome during the preseason was in 1993, when they defeated the Seahawks 23-10.

Next Saturday, August 16, the Vikings will travel to Baltimore to play the Ravens, while the Seahawks will return home to face the Chicago Bears.

Vikings In The Preseason

- The Vikings have a combined record of 129-83-3 (.607) in their 215 preseason games.

- The team has finished undefeated in the preseason six times (1964, ‘65, ‘73, ‘92, ‘98, ‘01).

- The Vikings have finished at .500 or better in 37 of the team’s 47 preseasons.

- In the 37 preseasons when the Vikings have finished at .500 or better, the team has gone on to finish .500 or better 30 times in the ensuing regular season.

- In the 10 preseasons when the Vikings have finished below .500, the team has gone on to finish below .500 six times in the ensuing regular season.

- Head Coach Brad Childress has a 4-3-1 record in the preseason.

Honorary Starter: Dennis Koslowski (Vikings team chiropractor who won bronze and silver medals in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics, respectively, in the 220-pound weight class of Greco-Roman wrestling.

National Anthem: MVC member Kelly, a third-year team member, has been seen and heard singing the National Anthem at Wild, Timberwolves, Twins, Vikings, and Golden Gophers games. She has also traveled to Europe as a "Up with People" cast member to perform.
