Indianapolis Colts at Minnesota Vikings

Sunday, Sept. 14 // Noon // Metrodome // Minneapolis, Minn.

Game Summary

After opening the 2008 regular season with a 24-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, the Minnesota Vikings (0-1) will play their first home game of the year and the first of two consecutive home games this Sunday, September 14, against the Indianapolis Colts (0-1). Kickoff is slated for noon at the H.H.H. Metrodome.

This will be the 23rd time the Vikings and Colts have matched up in the regular season, with the Colts holding the overall series lead 14-7-1. The last time the two teams met was in 2004, a 31-28 Colts victory at Indianapolis.

Next Sunday, September 21, the Vikings remain at home to take on the Carolina Panthers while the Colts return to Indianapolis to play the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Before The Game

- The Vikings will collect fan donations at each gate for the RT Autism Awareness Foundation.

- In honor of their extensive relief efforts in the recent tornado tragedy that hit Hugo, MN, Hugo Mayor Fran Miron, Fire Chief Jim Compton and Washington County Sheriff Bill Hutton willmserve as the Honorary Captains and participate in the coin toss.

A Win Would...

- Improve the Vikings record in home openers to 31-16-1 all-time.

- Improve Head Coach Brad Childress’ record in home openers to 3-0.

- Improve the Vikings record at the Metrodome to 138-76-0 (regular season and postseason).

What To Watch For

- With two sacks, DE Jared Allen will have 45 for his career.
- WR Bernard Berrian will play in his 60th career game.
- With one sack, LB E.J. Henderson will move into 5th all-time in sacks by a Vikings linebacker.
- G Anthony Herrera will start his 20th career game and play in his 30th career game.
- With 73 receiving yards, WR Sidney Rice will reach 500 for his career.
- K Ryan Longwell needs three fi eld goals to tie Pete Stoyanovich’s 272 made FGs.
- With an INT for a TD, Darren Sharper will move into a tie for 2nd place all-time in the NFL.
- This game will mark DT Kevin Williams 80th career game, all of which he has started.

IMPORTANT TRAFFIC NOTE FOR SUNDAY:

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 12 and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday, September 15, all lanes of Highway 62 from Penn Avenue to the western junction of Interstate 35W will be closed for storm sewer work.

Fans trying to get to the Metrodome for the Colts / Vikings game should follow the detours provided by Mn/DOT that will be on Interstate 494.
